Springtime in Toronto

I ate well today, my friends! But first, I woke up in a daze as I got to bed late last night and was still dreaming when the alarm went off. Ugh.

Did 30 minutes of yoga to stretch out my stiff hips and legs and then got to work on some breakfast! I missed my oats! I know it’s EVERYWHERE in the blogosphere but I’ve had it almost every day since August and am STILL not sick of it! I know! I think it’s weird too!

My oats contained:

  • 1/3c rolled oats
  • 3/4c vanilla soy milk
  • 1/2tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1tbsp almond butter
  • palmful of Kashi Go Lean Crunch

That, along with a fabulous cup of morning coffee made for a perfect breakfast!

Lunch was easy and quick as I was rushing (aren’t you supposed to be calm after yoga?!).

Fresh veggies with a balsamic dressing for dip and some fat free cottage cheese with a wee bit of maple syrup!

This, unfortunately, did not tide me over so around 3pm I had a snack of an apple and really wanted a Cliff bar so I ran across the road to the drugstore to get one but they stopped selling them! Waaa!!!! So after much debate I picked up this “Fullbar”

Apparently it’s actually an appetite suppressant bar but the ingredients are all natural. But here’s the kicker: the instructions tell you to eat it, along with 8oz of water, 30 minutes before your meal and (magically) you’ll eat less at your meal! This stuff tasted like grain puffs mashed with peanut butter, it wasn’t  very tasty at all! Here’s what the creator, Michael A. Snyder, MD says on the back of the bar:

Four years and 50 formulations later, Fullbar was born. The bottom line is simple, when you feel full, you eat less. When you eat less you lose weight. Enjoy Fullbar as a simple part of your daily routine and enjoy your full life.

I got home two hours later and Fullbar did not live up to its name. I was still hungry and wasn’t going to be having dinner until later as I had a spin class to go to. I decided to snack on a pre-exercise Green Monster.

This one contained:

  • 1 big handful of spinach
  • 1 large banana
  • 1/2c soy milk
  • 5 ice cubes
  • dash of cinnamon
  • YUM

Spin was great! We did a mix of bumps, intervals and a 20 minute hill climb! I love my instructor, Jen, because she treats spin sessions like we’re actually riding outdoors! I ended the class sweaty and satisfied! I hadn’t been to spin in three weeks!

On my way home, although a bit chilly, the wind blew the spring air into my face and seeing as all the most fragrant flowers are just starting to bloom now, I made sure to stop at EVERY single lilac bush (tree?) and took deep, long breaths. It was glorious!

Got home and made myself a simple dinner of pasta and a HUGE salad. Anytime I have a main, carby dinner, I make sure that half my plate is stuffed with veggies!
