Heading Home

Ack! So busy this week! Not much time to cook or take photos! But I’ll make it up to you this weekend as come tomorrow morning I’m off for four days to go home for weddings and celebrating Canada Day! I have some surprises for you that I am very excited to bring to you!

I’m so tired of eating out! How did I used to do this all the time?! I can’t wait for things to die down and I can grab some groceries again!

Breakfast was impossible to find something healthy so I ended up with a granola bar, blueberry muffin and an iced latte.

Too much beige for me!

Lunch was just a fraction better with a veggie sub from Quizno’s, a nectarine and water. This big 40oz canteen sees that I get enough water into my body during the day! I have a goal to fill it up as soon as I get into work, polish it off by lunch, refill it and then finish it by 5pm. Most work days I get 80oz of water in me!

And for a snack I decided to try two squares of Lindt’s Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt that I keep seeing Robyn eat and I’ve been really curious!

It was really unique! I’m not a huge fan of dark chocolate but it does make me slow down and I can’t eat as much because it’s bitter and the mix of bitter chocolate and salt was really interesting! I can definitely see me using this as a treat more often!

Dinner was also eaten out at Freshii where I had my favourite, the Bliss Bowl! It contains tomatoes, avocado, mushrooms, goat cheese and balsamic over brown rice. What I love about Freshii is that you can go to the website, construct your own dinner and it shows you the nutrition information! Awesome!

I was eating out for dinner because I caught the movie Crazy Heart at the newly opened Carlton Cinemas at Yonge St & Carlton! The theatre looks GREAT! Everyone has done such a great job at resurrecting the theatre and I can’t wait to see it flourish! I brought Alan some dinner as well but he was so busy that we didn’t have much time to chat. He’ll be there all evening and then all day tomorrow. Poor guy! The movie was amazing! I totally understand why Jeff Bridges won the Oscar. A very touching film with great performances and good music. I highly recommend it!

Alrighty! This girl needs her sleep! I have an early morning 4k tempo run and I’m off to my hometown! See ya’ll in Cobourg!

Seen any good movies lately?

Free Movies!!!

What a crazy weekend! My apologies for not posting yesterday, I had all intentions to but I ended up spending the afternoon with Alan. Imagine getting a text from your boyfriend when you’re at a wedding about 1.5hrs away saying “Just in case you find out and are worried, there’s a riot going on due to the G20 but I’m safe.” Alan was working downtown over the weekend when Toronto pretty much blew up in a fit of irresponsibility and destroyed the downtown core. He had to lockdown the theatre while riot police geared up in front them and people rioting on the next street over. So this freaked out girlfriend opted to give her boyfriend some extra cuddles yesterday instead of posting. I know you understand!

I had to eat out for breakfast today as we have no groceries in the house. I had all intentions of getting a twelve grain bagel with light cream cheese, a yogurt cup and a treat of an iced coffee from Tim Horton’s only to go into the newly renovated store close to work and have them tell me that they didn’t have twelve grain bagels, yogurt OR iced coffees! I was so disappointed as I was hungry (and therefore cranky) and they had all of this stuff before they renovated! I was going to be late for work so I just opted for the honey and wheat bagel with light cream cheese and that was that.

It was a bagel. Nothing earth-shattering.

Lunch was leftovers from dinner out with Alan’s family last night, this penne contained kalamata olives, sun dried tomatoes and red pepper with a basil tomato sauce. YUM! I had this with an unpictured nectarine that I bought at the grocery store across the road.

I was feeling a little snacky mid-afternoon (as usual) and wanted something sweet so I took out a mini Dairy Milk, the last of my candy stash that I left at work just for these occasions! I like them because they’re only 60 calories and melt in my mouth!

I also snacked on a BioBest yogurt drink that I also bought at the grocery store (just snagged a few things to stash in the work fridge for the week). It’s a quick and easy way to get some protein in! They’re not too bad as far as Astro products go (not much of a fan) and the drinkable yogurts do not contain gelatin (which, if you’re not aware of, isĀ not vegetarian friendly).

After work my friend Brian took me out for dinner! We haven’t seen each other since the beginning of May so we went down to one of my favourite places, Magic Oven which specializes in organic pizzas, sandwiches and pasta and caters to meat eaters, vegetarians, vegans and those with gluten allergies! It’s soooo good!

We shared the Greek Fries to start which is just potato wedges with feta cheese and a cream dip. These are yummy but did remind me that I much prefer sweet potatoes over white potatoes.

I ordered the BBQ Tofu with Spinach sandwich. My first time having this and I’ll definitely have it again!

The bread was SOOOO good! It was lightly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle!

Brian ordered the Harmony Magic pizza which contains olive oil, garlic, prosciutto, organic hot italian sausages, caramelized onion, arugula, mozzarella and gorgonzola. He loves it so much he orders it every time we go there!

This week is SUCH a busy week for Alan and myself and it’s not even due to the same thing! My cousin’s wedding is on Friday and I’m heading back home on Thursday to help out and will be gone until Sunday. Tomorrow I have school (and a project due!) and Wednesday I’m going out with my friend to help celebrate what Alan’s busy with this whole week and that is:

FREE MOVIES!!!!!!!!

Alan works in movie biz and for the last couple of months has been busy like mad helping to refurbish the Carlton Cinemas on the corner of Yonge & Carlton in Toronto. All of his (and everyone else’s) hard work is coming together this week with the opening! If you’re in the area and want to check out the new theatres (with cushy new chairs and all of the arms lift up so you can snuggle with your cutie), they’re showing FREE MOVIES all day Wednesday and Thursday! I’m heading out right after work on Wednesday to see Crazy Heart! The Carlton will be showcasing independent, art school, foreign films and documentaries as well as just plain old good movies that deserve a longer showing. So if you’re one for quality movies, CHEAP movies and a friendly atmosphere you should head on down and check it out!

Now this lady needs to finish up her school project! Have a great night everyone!
